Camping Basics: Gear and Preparation for Beginners
Embarking on your first camping adventure can be both exhilarating and daunting. To ensure a successful and enjoyable experience, beginner campers must focus on acquiring the right gear and proper preparation. Selecting the appropriate equipment is crucial. I am going to talk about some of the basic necessities you should consider having for your first camping adventure.
The first item when most people think about camping is a tent. Tents vary in sizes depending on how many people are going to camp with you. I always like tents that are a little bigger just so I have more space to leave all my stuff and not be so cramped. Here are a couple of tents I would recommend for your first camping adventure depending on the size of your party:
Tents
Maybe you’re going on a camping trip with a good friend, someone special, or trying to do a solo adventure. This tent is great for 1-2 people. I like this tent because of its small profile and light weight. It is simple and easy to set up quickly. It comes in three different sizes that can hold 2, 4, and 6 people.
If you are looking to camp with a larger party, my go to tent that I use all the time is this tent.
I know it sounds weird but I do not like bugs and bugs seem to love me whenever I go camping. The Coleman Evanston Screened Camping Tent is my go to tent whenever I go camping because it has a mesh net that I can sit in while eating dinner or looking at the stars. I use this tent mainly even if I am camping with just one other person just for this net feature to keep the mosquitos and other bugs away from me.
Sleeping Bag
Comfort is key for me whenever I got camping. A warm sleeping bag along with a comfortable mat is essential for me. Here are two different sleeping bags I like to use:
Sleeping Mat
I have gone camping without a mat before and I was completely miserable. After a long day outdoors I want to be able to lay down in my tent in comfort to get some rest for the upcoming days. Here are two different sleeping mats I like to use:
This mat is also very effective as well but its a foam mat and takes slightly more space than the inflatable mat. Both mat will get the job done and provide a more comfortable camping experience.
Pillow
A good pillow is also key for a good nights sleep. Personally for me I have a hard time sleeping in general. If a pillow is not comfortable I will have a long restless night. Here are some pillows I would recommend:
